This is a word for word, ongoing study of Shaykh Zain al Din al Malabari’s detailed work, The Opening from the Helper. Shaykh Zain al Din was a student of Imam ibn Hajr, and this text is a concise abridgement of Ibn Hajr’s authoritative commentary Tuhfatul Muhtaj, which represents the foremost opinions of the later Shafi’i school. We will also be drawing on its invaluable super-commentaries, I'anat al Talibin and Tarshih al Mustafidin. This course is for advanced students who have studied previous books in Shafi’i fiqh, and ideally usul al fiqh. This is part one of a series of ongoing lessons in the text.
